My read on him is that he is opposed to wearing masks where they aren't likely to make any difference--out in the open air, away from others. He seems to be opposed to a uniform heavy-handedness. That's been my take on his resistance, though I might have missed something in the translations. He wants common sense to rule, but we don't have a world where everyone follows common sense, thus we establish blanket rules that are meant to make up for those who are unable to make such a distinction.
I was fine with him not wanting to wear a mask. I mean whatever that’s up to him. But then he started calling people who do want to wear masks stupid and that they were being mindless sheep. That’s when I drew that line. And then to make matters worse he says being told to wear a mask is the same as living in a dictatorship. That’s just way to far and not even close to being true.
