Not repeating something that was said & just brushing it off as it not being important is rude. You don't need specialized training to not be a dick to a person you know has an impairment that's out of their control. The constant jokes about his hearing is cringe too. It's basically just being conscious when he is in the room to include him in conversation. No one's asking them to sign or speak extra loud or anything like that.
Hopefully Kirsten doesn't leave, because Matt would be screwed without her. Poor guy may miss out on food like he almost did last night.
