I think it's because Monty Python arrived in America about a year before I saw it, and my friends and I became totally hooked once we viewed them all. It's all we talked about, so I can't seem to separate a genuine UK accent from the anticipation that it'll break down and become silly!
Altho.... I went to a men's sex club in London in 2002 and ended up on my knees before a Scottish bloke whose accent turned me on, so go figure.
