Extremely sad.

He was battling so much: HIV, kidney failure, and, a seizure disorder.

But he won. He beat these conditions. They aren't going to control his life anymore.

RIP Tristen.

And not that it matters but also extremely high blood pressure and depression. I messaged him a while back during one of his many, many hospital visits. He indicated that the high blood pressure problems, which he had for many years, was most likely the cause of his kidney failure. He said the doctors did know what was cause of the high BP.
I think he was a lot sicker and suffering more than most people knew, or that I knew from his online presence.

So sad.

Same here. Grieving too and it's tough watching it play out online (his recent posts). And I really don't know why. I've followed him for many, many years and only messaged 2-3 times, but feel some "connection". I suppose it's partly that he shared so much online and it was easy to get to know him (if you can really do that online).

I know it's his decision to make but as an outsider it does seem like he gave up too soon. I'm aware of all his health problems, but people can live fairly long on regular dialysis. Perhaps his days were more limited than we knew

I'm sure that he talked in depth with his doctors. Many people in his position just have no further hope to get better. It sucks to fall into the stage of hospice care.
Did he pass from his chronic Illness or did he take his own life?

He decided to stop doing kidney dialysis treatments and passed a few days afterwards. So, yes, due to his chronic illness.
