Connor Jessup

nicotine is very addicting. a lot of people try out smoking when they're young and dumb and then just start doing it casually. it becomes a habit, a stress reliever and a hunger supressor, and by then there's no going back, because it takes some serious effort to quit it

Self-control isn't really a common trait. :joy:

i mean people try it just to try it and don't think much of it. because we're taught the dangers of smoking but it's never painted as the problem that it is. nicotine should be classified as a drug. i remember when my mom had to quit smoking and boy was that a fucking mess. and she was a heavy smoker, so it was even worse for her.
i think casual smokers see less of an issue because since they only smoke once in a while, they don't think of it having as much of a negative impact on their health.
fast forward 10 years and they're coughing out a lung

It’s one thing to be a smoker, it’s quite something else to deliberately upload photos of yourself smoking as if it’s still a 1950s rebellious cool thing to do. It doesn’t look sexy in 2024
In 2024 less than 10% of American adults smoke cigarettes. It peaked at 45% in the 1950s. So it's actually much more "rebellious" to be a smoker in 2024 than it has been in 60 years. But yes, it's a disgusting addiction.

Just stumbled upon a shortfilm called "Crazy House" from 2015 with Connor in it and I'm surprised there's nothing about it in this thread yet, so I took some screenshots for you guys. I think you will enjoy them ;)

by that logic wearing pink pigtails and a banana hammock in public is also rebellious, but I don’t recommend it
