but i thought they were going for a redemption ark, and that by hanging out with nick and madison for some time he'd change.

He was a psychopath so I doubt he would've genuinely changed and become a good person, not that Madison and Nick were saints either but at least they didn't torture and ran tests on mexicans. I would've liked to see him stick around longer because he was a great character but he'd done way too much harm to so many people at that point.
