That's only a recent development, though. In history, there was no 'sexual orientation', but it was also much more common for same sex encounters to be mixed into the normal lives of most people, at least as far as historical discovery shows. It's been a pushed lie that 'straight is the default' to further the control the church had over people, forcing sex and sexuality to be 'sinful' and only sex for procreation as proper. It's also why the church went from performing same sex marriages to demonizing it.
