Dean-Charles Chapman: Let’s try again.

I think you're overestimating how badly people in the "Dean-Charles Chapman" LPSG thread want to discuss the merits of the three Star Wars trilogies, sir.
What are you doing just sitting there? Someone in the Harry collet thread is taking about game of thrones!

I'm really surprised that him having an almost co-leading role in the oscar nominated film 1917 (which was really great in case someone hasn't seen it) didn't lead to more acting jobs for him. His role in the Star Wars show on Disney plus seems to have been the only big acting job he got out of it. Which is a shame

It's Hollywood. You'll see the same actors because they're famous on Instagram/pushed by some powerful producer than an actual actor with talent no matter how good his movies/tv shows were.

He isn't a very good actor. He had to do so much physically in 1917 that his exhaustion and frustration was very palpable and worked on screen so well for his character. But he is very *mid* in most everything else he's done. Probably will have consistent work but yeah, I think he's long since peaked.

I actually disagree. I think he plays the role of the average working class British young man quite well. I think he could still have a career on mid-budget BBC or ITV dramas. Ofc not as glamourous as oscar nominated films or big franchises, but still a good career

Yeah when he was on game of thrones his lines were clunky almost as if he forgot his lines he also always seemed really nervous

Nothing's guaranteed anymore.
Being in an Oscar nominated film doesn't mean you'll hit it big. Being the lead in a huge marvel movie won't make you A-list. Your tv show getting viewed a billion plus minutes is worth less and less.
