I think they do exist but calling out gay pornstars for trying straight porn is a bit out of touch or even the other way around. I've seen so much of this happen in twitter and even here in LPSG where just cause their favorite porn personality don't do what they like seeing them in (e.g. gay porn), they call them str8/gay for pay because they enjoy something different. I agree but I also think the idea most of these guys are dirt poor is more a little overblown and I doubt there is actual substantial evidence for such a claim.

People are still asking whether gay4pay exists? You people must have been living under a rock because this has been going on for probably thousands of years. Nowadays everything has to have labels attached to it but the reality is that men who are only sexually attracted to women obviously will "sell" their body to anyone if they need money/food/drugs etc... This is very commonplace in poor countries such as in Eastern Europe or Asian countries such as Thailand with many young men who have families with children but can't afford food. This does NOT mean that they are suddenly sexually attracted to those older men or that they are attracted to men in general which is simply ridiculous. There is a whole gay4pay culture in Eastern Europe where young men from for instance Bulgaria travel to countries such as Germany or France in order to work as male prostitutes only to send money back to their wifes and kids because they live under horrible circumstances in their home country. To add to this: Homosexual / Bisexual as identities have only existed since people who arent heterosexual were pathologized by early psychiatric practitioners. Before that, these were only behaviours that didn't exist in these silos. The behaviours were shunned (see victorian sodomy laws). This was for various political reasons that often werent even motivated by not wanting people to have sex with each other.
If you look at it from that perspective, one could say that the whole LGBT identitarian debate is actually just leftover baggage from people who were looking to marginalize others who were different in the first place.
