Well Johnny is still in high school and by his own account he's pretty imature even for a high schooler. He's young and pretty and he has a world of dick literally at his pretty little finger tips but emotionally he might not be so ready.

Only ever seen him with an uncle and cousins.
I think originally part of Brae staying with the Geicks was a favour to Brae's mom to get Brae into a better school district and to keep Dylan and Brae together.
