You sign a contract. I believe they are usually four years, although I think the Army does 2, 4, and 6 year service contracts.

A year is kind of unusual, considering the training is expensive and takes up part of the first year.

Most first enlist contracts for the army are 6 years. Mine was 8 because I was in the guard. But him leaving after a year raises a few flags.

Oh yea he is deff getting chaptered he got demoted and he had been on extra duty so he got busted down all the way to E1 and so he probably got a field grade Artical 15 45 days extra duty
