My understanding is that people write "bump" to wake up a thread. If no one posts, the stream sinks in the algorithm. "Bump" indicates that the poster has nothing new to say, but wants to remind others of Dylan, and perhaps post photos - and get the stream active again by just shaking the tree a little bit. Also, if it's the person's first post on the stream, then they'll get notifications after when other people post, so that they don't have to go back and check. In that case it's just a "bump" to keep them posted if Dylan ever shows his dick.
