I think getting your kit off in front of randos is always going to be something you'd prefer avoiding if possible unless you're a nudist/exhibitionist. Not everyone likes to get their junk out in front of a whole production crew... Also, this is film/tv so it'll be widely broadcasted and will remain for posterity, unlike theatre where it's contained.

these days crews are minimal during sex/nude scenes. Everyone is usually dismissed and it just ends up being the director and cinematographer with the actors

It's a bummer that he sees his nudity in Euphoria as something to be avoided in the future because we all want to see more nudity but it's hardly surprising.

I mean, he did it once, and it was his big break. He may not have gotten his subsequent roles if not for Euphoria. But nobody really wants become known as the person who will get naked for anything. It's probably smart for him to avoid it for at least a little while unless absolutely necessary.

I don't think he wants to avoid it, he simply cuz to use a double. It ain't the end of the world. Am I pissed about him using one, ye, but it doesn't mean he will EVER do nudity again.

A lot of actors have used doubles and then went nude in other projects prior and after: Tyler Posey, Emile Hirsch, Freddie Stroma, Dylan Sprouse, Jason Bateman, Dwayne Johnson, Bruce Willis, Adam Sandler, Matt Damon, Liam Neeson, Ashton Kutcher, Vince Vaughan, Val Kilmer, Ike Barinholtz, Paul Rudd, Bill Pullman, Clint Eastwood, Blair Redford, Mel Gibson, Kit Harington, Jared Leto, Jeff Daniels, Alec Baldwin, Sly Stallone, etc.

Again, nudity itself is unnecessary.

I highly doubt he's against nudity, just didn't wanna do it that time. The simple choice would've been to remove the nudity. He could've just walked out of the shower and there would've been something blocking his junk, like someone's head or a piece of film equipment.

Yeah, well, gonna disagree with you there.

it's not that uncommon for an actor that's starting out to agree to certain types of scenes, like full nudity, as they feel more pressured to agree to it as they're only starting out and saying no can cost them the gig. once they're more established they no longer see a need to do it because they've already launched their careers, so they don't find a need to accept something they don't wanna do. doesn't mean they won't do it sometime in the future, but it's less likely they'll do it for a while as they don't deem it necessary

yeah this! at that point in their careers they don't even have the agency to say no. It's the same thing with a lot of shows where there is a lot of nudity/sex in season 1 but they time they reach season 4 there's basically nothing

I'm sorry, but I have no respect and empathy for actors who at the beginning of their career do EVERYTHING to get something and don't choose how they get there, and then after the role or two start to shit. An example of Elordi, who now regrets doing that Netflix trilogy that made him famous and put him on the map. Just shut up.

u mean the HIGHLY problematic, objectifying film that portrayed him as an abusive creep?

Agreed.

I'm glad he was honest though. No one would have never known it was a body double. It begs the question. How many actors are using butt body doubles, but we assume it's their ass. I would assume they are classified as stunt performers, so is it listed in the credits?

It is likely that in Euphoria, because he wasn't well known, he didn't feel he could say no without loosing the job, and did it because he had to but wasn't really comfortable. Now that he has the option he doesn't want to because he didn't enjoy it before. There's also a lot of work/work-out to be done to make sure what you're showing looks good, especially since they all know it will be gif'ed all over the internet for all time.

Yah given the premise of that Euphoria episode, it's probably more accurate to say that he wouldn't even have been able to secure the job without accepting the nudity clause. Now that he is getting seperate work where nudity is optional he is no longer interested in doing it.

Which is fine, and of course is his perogative, but a bummer for me haha.

I'd personally rather them just not have the nudity then use doubles, but that's just me.

This right here. If an actor doesn't want to do it. I would prefer they just scrap the nude scene altogether.

A butt double is definitely not credited as a stunt performer. If they get credited, it would be as a photo double or body double but both of those are rarely credited roles.

I would think the writers put the shower/butt scene in for the comedy value/reaction, not because they thought people online would like to see Elias's ass again. Hence why a butt double doesn't matter to them.
