There wasn't "body shaming" in the sense that we talk about it now. Yes, there was a LOT of razzing and teasing---if you had something about you that stood out, you had to take your licks about it. It was all in fun, though...not meant to degrade or to shame you. As MuscleBoundMan pointed out, that would go against the camaraderie of the team...or just of whatever guys were in the locker room. I was both short and hairy (at least hairier than most of the other guys)...so I came in for a lot of the jokes. You just had to learn to give as good as you got.I would have loved to experience such things
What about body shaming? Like, I have a small and very hairy dick, what could they say about it? Or would they just jock a bit about it but without real shame or bullying?
And also as mentioned above, the locker room was a great equalizer because everyone was different...yet also the same in so many ways. When you're naked, you have nothing to hide behind---even your size doesn't necessarily matter---and guys tend to then be more honest. Maybe the joking even was done to cover up some of their own insecurities...who knows.
I will say, though, that in my experience the ability to take the jokes---and to "fight back"---made you part of the team or group. It was the guys that were overly-sensitive about it---who didn't fight back---that were just left alone. They weren't teased or shamed like everyone else---I can remember very few guys who were that cruel to them---instead, they were just left alone. They didn't fit in...
