people have a "theory" that because he's with richard, he's been influenced into being less active on social media. people are basing this off the back brandon was pretty active on social media before and after richard, but during the time they were together, he was very quiet.
the thing is, froy seems to be kinda quiet on social media in general, even before he met richard. so there's not really a way to know if his relationship is changing his social media habits or not

if that is true then richard is a horrible, loose and abusive person.

People keep saying 'Froy is quieter on social media', but it's actually not true. Froy was actually quite active on social media for several years. That's how he built his fanbase. He only started to become more quiet in the last year, or so, when he admitted to going through some personal issues. But then he came back. Maybe not quite as active as before though. Once he got with Richard, that's been less frequent even more so.

It's often how things work when you are closeted, and dating a very high profile actor who is also closeted. My remark about 'not being allowed' was probably the wrong way to phrase it. Look, he could probably do whatever he really wants, I doubt anyone is forcing him in any way. Many have simply guessed that since Richard is notoriously private about his relationships, that he may have asked, or they mutually decided, to play it fairly cool on engaging with too much social media...particularly with selfies and giving away their location. We even saw that play out with the rags picking up on sharing the house as "buddies" during quarantine. Though they do openly 'like' each others posts, and have both hinted at location in recent stories, so it's not completely hidden.

The comments about wanting Froy to post more are mostly from those of us who have followed Froy long before this current relationship...and just miss him engaging with his fans, and particularly the regular selfies, like he used to. Even the comments on his latest posts have both fans and celeb colleagues alike commenting on how much they've all missed seeing him. Even fans for the last several months were posting how bummed they were that he seemed 'gone' so much. That's all.

Fair enough. I’m sure they have discussed social media and how much they want to reveal. I’m just annoyed by a false narrative that originated elsewhere that Madden is some controlling monster who prevents his twinks from posting.

most people aren't super active on social media. froy is probably as active currently as i am. he might also be doing a lot of lurking and simply not posting anything

Madden was the same way with his previous girlfriend too. He's very private. It was a little different with his first girlfriend when he got famous but that was when he wasn't as used to fame.

Froy is also not out and never had a relationship that can be confirmed since he was famous so maybe he also doesn't want people digging into his personal life. But he's happy enough to let us know how happy he is and they've gone to public places together despite most of their relationship taking place during a pandemic.

It's so sad that fans have theories and then it becomes fact in their minds and people decide Madden is a terrible monster who is abusive, wtf? If Madden and his boyfriends that the public knows about discussed not posting on social media as much isn't that the choice of the person with him? They could say that's a deal breaker, I need to be on social media 24/7 and not be with him, he's not forcing these guys by gunpoint.

I would argue that “glass closeted” is a more accurate term for Richard and Froy than closeted. Clearly they’re both out to their friends and family. They’re very private but not necessarily secretive. They may not be announcing that they’re boyfriends, but they’re still being seen together out in public and many people know they’re living together.

Last year a NYT reporter asked Madden about that nature of his relationship with Brandon Flynn. He responded, “I don’t talk about my relationships. I like to keep my private life private.” I interpreted that to mean that yes, he was in a relationship with Brandon but he didn’t want to talk about it. But even if you don’t interpret that the same way, it’s significant that he didn’t deny he was dating Brandon when given the opportunity to set the record straight, so to speak.

I’m guessing Richard and Froy are concerned about being seen as actors first and foremost. And unfortunately, once someone is fully out, they’re often seen in the public eye as a “gay actor” rather than simply an actor who happens to be gay. (Or bi, queer, however they identify.)

Who knows, though. Maybe if they’re together long enough, they’ll become comfortable with being a little more open.

We all know Froy was mostly off social media from the end of the summer to almost Thanksgiving last year. That wasn't because of Richard. Maybe he was in another relationship, I mean who knows. Remember he tweeted he took a mental health break.

I'm kind of surprised Froy hasn't been active on social media because he did build his fan base that way and he's not on TV yet. So he either doesn't care, or he has a secure fan base that he knows isn't going anywhere. I notice his twitter followers have gone down. But when he posts anything on Instagram even when he's been away a long time, the likes count is ridiculously high.

I noticed some of Froy's friends called him things like angel and sugar pie on his new post. He must be a really soft, sweet guy to get comments like that from other guys.

These days, can you really hide a gay relationship from the general public if you're two working actors who are becoming more famous? Everybody's on social media. All of Froy's fans know he's with Richard, and vice versa.

ok, fame is a big issue that can be undermined by your homosexuality. But on the other hand it is disappointing that he doesn't have that openness with his fans, and that kind of attitude only influences that prejudice remains in the artistic environment, for me this attitude is like a shot in the foot, I understand his reasons, but I don't support , do not confuse me I like them very much but I am not obliged to support this type of attitude.

On what platform? On Instagram he went from 1.9 to 1.8 million, so he lost 100,000. People do drop celebs when they don't post. On the other hand, we don't know all his followers are real. A lot of his Twitter followers are bots when you look through them.

Actually, a great deal of followers for anyone aren't real. They're bot/fake accounts, etc. There used to be a site that was able to measure the ratio of real to fake followers a person has. Quite a number of celebs with massive following numbers have large percentages of those followers as fake. And sometimes the platforms delete those accounts regularly.
