I think how the male performers turn out after the fact speaks to what this gay for pay is all about. For the closeted gay/bi man its a low consequence means of indulging in taboos and fulfilling the "straight-bait" fantasies so common to gay and bi men.. These guys tend to go on to live as normal.. The guys that are actually straight and are doing so for the money, typically need some sort of mind/perception numbing agent, a drug usually to just be able to make it through mentally, and thats not even counting the effects of the libido and arousal boosting drugs they need to take to perform. These guys are possibly the second most exploited demographic in porn and it rarely turns out well for them after the fact(depression, drug addiction, violent outbursts)

No way it's 80-90%- I wouldn't even put such high number for bisexual men in GAY porn. But I could be wrong since I don't know those guys personally and those women see them behind the camera.

"Straight" actually means closet gay.
Here on LPSG it is the closest label for heterosexuals to use, so straight (closet gay) men can pretend to be heteros by being hidden in the same group. So "straight" men getting paid to do something they love is probably fake.
