Up until the 1950s Cajuns only spoke Cajun French. Today they speak both French & "Cajun English". 50-75% of them still speak French fluently or can get by in it. Plus, alot of Cajun English is just Cajun French translated word for word into English - it can sound kinda strange sometimes.
