I am 52 years old and for as long as I can remember I've had very sensitive glans. I am circumcised and the sensitivity only occurs when I am aroused but when it does it can be pretty extreme. Any rough or firm direct touch can be painful. Over the years I've learned to compensate for the extra sensitivity by adjusting my technique whether alone or with a partner, but what I'm unable to compensate for is the level of sensitivity at the point of ejaculation. Beginning a few seconds before and for about a minute after ejaculation, the sensitivity of my glans gets multiplied by 1,000. During that time anything but the lightest direct touch is extremely painful. Alone this has not been an issue but with a partner I find that I cannot continue thrusting comfortably. For the most part I'm unable to move without pain and I must ask my partner to be still as well.

I've tried numbing creams, which actually ease the sensitivity but only up to the point of ejaculation and then it's as if I'm using nothing at all.

For obvious reasons this is not an issue that I would discuss openly with anyone other than an intimate partner or medical professional. Admittedly, however I'm a little embarrassed to even talk with my own urologist about it.

As this is a long-standing issue I'm assuming there's nothing medically wrong, but my questions are: 1) is this normal? And 2) are there any remedies available? Thanks for your time.

It is quite normal that sensitive increases after ejaculation. Some people doesn't like to be touch after cum. That doesn't happen to me. I like to keep stroking or thrusting after I cum. If my dick doesn't go soft, I can keep going without feeling pain or any discomfort.
