Compared to the past the number of different people's genitals available for viewing is many orders of magnitude greater. there is a report where they claim penises grew over the last xy years. if true, it would explain the Op's observation. however, even those surveys from the last +/-15 years about penis size are (selection) biased in many ways or simply technically not conducted the correct way (measuring not with tape ruler, bpl or nbpel fully erected or just stretched lenght etc.)

Set aside the studies etc. that cover averages, if 7.25 is a bit above average ,3 inches is almost an extra 50%. That's a pretty big jump.

7.25 is above average... but the point is nearly everyone is clustered under 8 inches. Above 8 is maybe 1%. So you don't have to have a big lead to be bigger than most. It's like being the guy who's 5'10" in a room full of people who are mostly 5'7" to 5'10.5".
