Also, I think to him, from the Witcher, he KNOWS what he's doing and he's okay with it. He's comfortable with it because it's a show. He probably doesn't like being objectified without his consent like if in public or during an interview.

gotcha this makes more sense now. with Amy it was the Graham Norton episode for man of steel. Henry, Amy and Russell Crowe are on the couch talking and Graham being Graham brings up Henry’s good looks and Amy gets a little too flirtatious and objectifies him a bit. then she did it a separate time on either the today show or one of those ungodly long morning programs. and you can see in his face that he’s uncomfortable. i get uncomfortable watching it
For the movies, I’d venture to guess he puts in that hard work to flesh out the character. Not for his own benefit? Like, he sees it as an essential part of bringing the role to life. Maybe he sees people obsessing over his own person as a complete disregard of the work he and others put in the bring a character to life. That’s and maybe he has an insecurity that people only follow him for his body and not his acting chops. While I’m no esteemed critic, I do thing he’s a fine actor. He worked so hard to leave the old image of a heavier , younger self behind. Now, a new problem is rising. Whereas people used to make fun of him for being heavy as a boy, now they see his muscles before the SEE him. Maybe old insecurities attaching themselves to a new set. I hope that guy is healing up alright. In every way
Forgot to add: I think he’s proud of the work to bri g that character to life on screen so he’ll take of his shirt to lend to the character (when warranted). I think back to an interview to where he got peeves at Tudors producers having him take a promo shot when his character wasn’t a showy guy anymore

oh absolutely. there’s a total double standard there. i believe it’s why he’s careful and private regarding any and all relationships and anything re that topic. you dont see him get even the slightest bit flirty with others (in b4 someone quotes me and posts a pic of him all loose at a bar when he’s plied with alcohol), he’s so polite and a gentleman.
