Henry Cavill

I don't blame him. He did four seasons of The Tudors, and by the last season, it was rubbish. He probably had to turn down lots of projects in order to fulfil his contract. On the upside, they'll want people to tune in and watch Liam Hemsworth, so they'll pull out all the stops, including nudity. Liam might end up bulking up like Henry and look just like Chris Hemsworth.

I believe he already knew what he signed for back then, it was obvious that show would have a multiple seasons, some actors do 4-5 projects every year. One of his interview he said he would do both, Geralt and Superman together and would stay till the end season 7 :)

Season 4-5 are shooting back to back so no show won't be cancelled at least there gonna be 5 seasons. After few days I feel even worse, whatever happened, you don't abandon fandom and your coworkers just like that. If you had issues with writing, demand things to be changed, I'm sure netflix would try to keep him. Anyway I feel betrayed and can't heal from this. Witcher kept him relevant for all of these years, formed cult around him and the show,CDPR gonna include his armours as a DLC in Witcher 3 next gen edition and now he left it bc better deals showed up? I don't want to believe this. This behaviour doesn't pair with my values well.

And yes I love Superman, my fav superhero, but still NO. Whole thing is just wrong.
Saying the show is gonna have two more season, it's just a business tactic just to Hype and create excitement among the audience. Of course it all depends if the S3 works out, but I don't think Henry is an opportunist, I mean, he always was loyal to DC even if it took 6 years to bring back his role as Superman and neither a solo movie is in developing right now. I really think something happened between the showrunner and his decision to quit.

I hope I'm wrong because I love The Witcher lore, but if his departure is due to the showrunner's lack of interest in adapting the books to create a fanfic of it, well, say hello to the next "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" thing.

Yes, but in the same interview he said "as long as it stays true to the source material...". A very important thing.

I just wish they ''recasted'' showrunner instead. She has no idea what she is doing and yea, I don't know if you noticed but in season 2 promotions there wasn't a friendship atmosphere between them while they were all super friendly during season 1 promotion. Even at Witchercon Henry's interview was shot separately. :)

About writing I belive he could demand things, he is known with complaining on sets.

You just don't abandon your fandom just like that.
I'm prefacing this with that I have only read other comments about possible reasons he would step down and I have no first hand information about this.

In many interviews they have alluded to him being very knowledgeable about the source material and possibly even correcting things when the writers get things wrong. He's very passionate about getting things right.

There are also comments that the writers for The Witcher don't really like or care about the source material.

Kotaku has an article about the fan speculations as to why Henry left. Simply that he does not agree with the direction they are taking the show and that it deviates from the source material.
Witcher Fans Are Convinced They Know the Real Reason Henry Cavill Left The Netflix Series

So if anything, him leaving would be the most true to the fandom that he could do. The fandom don't want an "Inspired by" series, they want The Witcher. If he stayed and just went through the motion while him and the fans felt that the story was ruined, that would feel more like a betrayal.
How much can you deviate from source material before the fans start to actively dislike the content? So him leaving now is with his head held high and saying that he tried to give the fans what they wanted but that now it is down to wherever the writers and the studio wants to take it.
Do they want it to end like Game of Thrones (a show that so many spoke about all the time but that no one even remembers anymore) or do they want to try to keep it going as best they can?

You are pretty right, that's why I don't dislike the idea of him being resplace with Liam Hems.
The show so far is very generic. Nothing stand special, and most of the characters are just stereotypes from another fantasy shows.

Like Amazon's LOTR: Rings of Power are getting new showrunners. Weak Netflix.

Depends on the scale of the project and the commitment of the role. A DC superhero film is a 5-6 month commitment for filming not to mention heavy press commitments. A season of "The Witcher" is also around five months of filming - and that's all assuming no COVID delays which still happen. Being the lead in both - tricky prospect. Doable, but tricky.

This is a rather selfish though to assume your own versions of events on why he's leaving.

The information is out there. He was happy to stay for 7 seasons on his one condition that the material is respected since he's such a huge fan of the books.

Another big name behind the scenes that quit the show has already exposed the team behind the witcher that they had no respect towards the source and even makes fun of it. So surely its only fair to Henry that if the whole thing turned out to be a false promise and much has changed, he shouldn't have to stay and watch his beloved series potentially be ruined by netflix?

We aren't owed anything by any actor etc. Your holding a human being to a higher standard without any of the facts and that just isn't fair.

What about changing showrunner ? :) Discussing and demanding things? I think he has enough value to ask things, personally I have a stage career, theatre and whenever we don't agree or like things we speak about it politely.I'm European and here we are more open. I'm not a Hollywood star, but I wouldn't abandon my coworkers and fans just like that, especially when their careers are depended on me. I hope Netflix wakes up, hires new writers and show blows up. I'm a Witcher fan 25+ years and I'll watch anything Witcher. There are lot of ppl like me. I love Henry, but any character is more than any actor. If he had issues with the writing he would left the show after season 1, bc season 2 was a total garbage. Anyway White Wolf lives.
