Alien: Isolation is one of the best horror games in recent memory and
Friday the 13th can bring some tense-filled fun. There's also the
Layers of Fear and
Outlast games...although my all-time horror fave is
Silent Hill 2 (the franchise itself is a little wobbly, But I generally like of the
Silent Hill games).
About
Dead By Daylight - the cool thing is that you don't *need* to buy any of the DLC, because all of the maps get automatically added to the game, so the DLC is only required if want to unlock a certain killer, survivor or both. That said, I have spent the majority of my time as a killer playing as either Michael Myers, Ghostface, or Freddy Kruger, so I'm glad I picked those ones up
(but I hear you about $$ - I only paid full price for the
Halloween DLC because it's one of my favourite films of all time. I waited to pick up the
Scream, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and
Evil Dead DLCs til they were on sale).
