Above on the left is Joel Grey, Broadway Legend and the original Master of Ceremonies for the original production of Cabaret in 1966. On the right is Ray Bolger, Scarecrow from the classic 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. His dance number "If I only had a Brain" was arguably the most complex dance routine in the film for an individual person, but he pulled off the lanky and off balanced scarecrow as if he was really made of straw (or rubber.)
