Hot Power Ranger Men!

I think that the misunderstanding here is he thinks mainstream and substatial = big hollywood movie. True, no PR actor has made it there, but neither 90% of actors you see in long running succesful shows in Fox, CBS, NBC, etc. By that criteria actors like Matt Leblanc from Friends or Kaley Cuoco from TBBT are not mainstream or substantial

Honestly outside of JDF or AJJ the I think the only actual names to come out of PR are Dan Ewing and Firass Dirani for all the stuff they've done in Australia and then Brandon Jay McLaren and Michael Copon for being recognizable in the US.

I'd say Johnny John Bosch and Dan Southworth are more recognized than a couple names in that list due to the extensive VA they've done in cartoons, anime and videogames, to the point where people recognize them from their voice and not from being in Power Rangers example:

Movies are not the be all end all of acting

See I disagree with mainstream = movies but more mainstream being a tv show/movie that extends that is hugely successful that people just know who you are. It’s clear as I don’t follow Australian tv shows and I’m not fluent in Rangers from the past 10-15 years I’m being accused of making an inaccurate comment.

I do enjoy a good debate but I think we can all agree we all have differing opinions of being successful or even what is mainstream.

Didn't Danny from lost Galaxy actually only did PR for the money so he could go to college? Like, he didn't change careers, he just did PR so he could get on his career choice, thats law.

And... Some actors and actresses went into soaps in the next Zealand. Actually, that completely hottie Ryan Carter made a character there who was bisexual for a time. There are some kissing scenes. And at least 2 more PR women are long time actors for that show.
And... Let's not forget about something like summer. David Santos were great in that.

Thank you. As I’m based in the UK I don’t get the NZ soaps or even a lot of Aussie ones, we only get Home and Away and Neighbours but realistically they are aimed at pre-teens/young teens in the UK market.

I never insinuated any of the actors didn’t go into anything else just merely the majority didn’t become internationally well known or dare I say they didn’t become marquee names on shows on tv/films. Many probably went onto the stage and made a decent living.

Perhaps it’s my age as well but many now famous actors who started on kids show do say it holds you back being associated with kids tv so I was also using their comments behind my comments.

They say that because saying "i didn't get into good roles because i couldn't find the right dick/hole to suck" would hold them back from getting good roles even more than being associated with kid shows.

Like maybe 10% of A tier actors are in that category due to actually being good actors. The majority either knew the right people or performed the right favours.

And to add… Adelaide and Rose have go onto international fame due to streaming, the world of TV is no long this or that, black or white, the way TV is viewed is so different. You also mention about being in the UK and not getting a lot of aussie shows when I also am from London originally and I know for a fact the UK gets the likes of Neighbours(which Adelaide was on staring next to Margot Robbie), Home and Away and Shortland Street.

You mention actors not becoming marquee names… I literally said that Anna Hutchinson went to star in Cabin in the Woods… a Joss Weedon film…. That starred Chris Hemsworth… it was one of the highest grossing horror films of 2012!

why are you so angry ?

I mentioned 2 of the 3 but also pointed out I didn’t watch them.

I’m sorry if I’ve hit a nerve with you as that is how you are coming across but I was stating my opinion. Clearly you disagree with it and that’s cool but it’s also clear we’ll never see eye to eye on this topic. Ranting about this person went into this and that is fine but unless the person has saw it how would they know? Personally never cared enough to look into every ranger’s IMDB page.

Simply put i’m moving on as this has gotten ridiculous. I’m glad you are really knowledgeable about PR actors/actresses and it’s impressive but again I simply stated my opinion.

There are actors who were on the show and managed to get big gigs later on. Beyond the names people already threw out, Eka Darville (Power Rangers RPM) was on Spartacus and later got one of the lead roles on Jessica Jones for 3 seasons on Netflix and a lead on Tell me a Story's second season last year.

There are more of course but most of the cast went into obscurity - which isn't exactly surprising as as most young actors aren't exactly becoming big names later on.

A lot of them are not even actors and they are recruited via martial arts circuits (Danny Slavin being one example mentioned above).

So the show isn't really a "death sentence" but it's not exactly a "jumping point" either.

And to keep with the thread's topic, since we talked about Eka Darville, here is his wonderful physique from Jessica jones

Not being mean, just pointing. I'm actually from Brazil. We get zero soaps from outside.. I never saw one... In normal tv, or cable tv... I only know because I do myself check sometimes some rangers on IMDb. Well, the ones that I know made something, then I watch almost their whole thing. The only reason I started iZombie what's ros McIver (rpm yellow). And reign (Adelaide Kane). I also loved she on OUAT... Chris Viollet also starred in a few movies. One with that guy from jumper/young Anakin that I forgot the name now.

I just think you are maybe viewing or through the wrong lenses. Yeah, PR it's not really a great starting point, and a lot of people there are not looking to really become actors, that's why they don't appear much. The ones who really are, usually get out and do a lot good actually. Maybe not internationally or in the us, that like it or not, create a lot of content tv and movie wise.

Probably better career prospects as being on Power Rangers does typically kill your acting career or you never get treated seriously anyway.

Dude, over a dozen of these actors (and more) have successfully broken into the business after their stints on PR. Even those who aren’t in the industry any more are still humbled and grateful for the opportunities the show gave them.

And the entertainment industry is a tough business to be in, regardless how talented and beautiful they are. It takes persistence, luck and a thick skin.

Both Matt Leblanc and Kaley Cuoco became mainstream because of Friends and TBBT. Similar to Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, and Jason Segal. On HIMYM the big names before it became a hit were Alyson Hannigan and NPH.
