I assume that most men don't even care about it, but was just wondering if for some it's unpleasant sight

Why would I care? Living in a state where it's stinking hot at least 10 months out of the year, guys wearing shirts without sleeves, while not all that common outside of the gym or beach, are also not unheard of. In fact in the more rural, to put it generously, parts of the state, plain white tank tops, aka "wife beaters", are sometimes standard daily fare.

I usually wear a regular sleeved t-shirt when I go out, but also have on a tank top maybe half the time at the gym and when I have to go somewhere else afterwards and can't or don't wish to change. Ditto for the beach or around the house.

The only thing I really think somewhat negatively of is the guys who wear stringer tops in the gym or elsewhere as it is so minimalistic that at that point, why even wear a shirt? And while I don't really need to see their teats hanging out, but it also doesn't rise to the level where it personally bothers me. In fact I just laugh at them inside, especially when the same guys who are trying so hard to impress others with their upper body muscles always wear sweat or long pants to hide their chicken legs.

So while I initially thought the question odd that someone would think a straight man might be offended seeing another man's bare upper arms, but then I remembered this is coming from the same poster who thinks straight men should only watch lesbian porn because images of straight sex would somehow be a turn-off and then it all made sense.

People run down the street shirtless all the time, why should I care if they're wearing a tank or not? I personally live in a pretty hot place, so being socially forced to wear a shirt I'd find uncomfortable to be stupid, I'll leave my dorm in one if I want to, I'll still be showing less skin than 50% of the ppl I pass by

Staple wardrobe item for the British man… particularly when abroad… wouldn’t give it a second thought…. Definitely not at the gym…Not entirely sure why it would offend anyone?

NOT in my wardrobe mate!

Half my shirts are tanks during the summer if I'm not at work or going out at night

In my free time during summer i wear them all of the time. Till now never considered that anyone would or could have a problem with it. It is nice and airy feeling so will continue to wear anyhow. Never really noticed but next summer i will look around but i don't think i'm the only one running around in it.

I live in Florida, I work from home and I work out and like to show off my arms and shoulders, so I wear a tank (or a tee with the sleeves cut off) most of the time, in any situation where it's appropriate. Never give it a second thought nor have I ever gotten any derogatory comments or looks from others.

If you mean vest tops I often wear them myself, my wife reckons I look good inside them so who am I to argue!

You're hilarious, Man---Loved reading this reply, and also makes tons of sense, but the way you put it gave me a good chuckle.

To my eye, it just depends.

If the guy is fat, hairy - or, God forbid - both fat *and* hairy, then please, no tank tops!

Otherwise, no problem. :)
