It's hard to say. Taylor was definitely a big star by that point, but that incident certainly ended up benefiting her in a huge way.

Apparently Khalid was one who pursued Hugo.

Hugo said he met Khalid at a party and it was Khalid who pursued him. Khalid wasn’t his type but gave him a chance. They were in a genuine relationship for years. He developed feelings for him eventually. They travelled the world together. Lived together. It was cute for a while. I, sure Khalid was footing the bill for a while.

Khalid wanted to come out at one point with Hugo as his bf, but Hugo refused bc he didn't want to be seen as a trophy bf and be introduced to the world like this.

Hugo feels men in Hollywood and LA objectify him and only care to have sex with him.

He says at one point Khalid wanted him to move in with him and get rid of his apartment, but he refused and didn't want to solely rely on Khalid.

He thinks bc of his looks, ppl take for granted that he has feelings too. He said relationship was genuine for a while but then it became toxic and Khalid was controlling. Apparently Khalid is toxic. There was class issues and power imbalances with Khalid being the breadwinner and way more successful and with financial capital.

Hugo has been struggling financially for years it seems.

He said only reason he did OF was bc he was broke. He said Khalid didnt want him to do OF. He said ppl have been trying to sabotage his OF career.

He said Khalid belittled his music aspirations. Wasn't supportive.

In my opinion, this issue should have been handled privately. Hugo made a mistake in outing Khalid, especially a celeb. This is very risky. This story of him allegedly breaking into Khalids house did not even hit twitter or mainstream. If he was defending himself after allegations came out it would be another story. He is very stupid. Also I dont think Khalid or his team would put this out publicly as it would open a pandoras box. Hugo should have handled this gossip in the inner LA gay scene and keep it out of Twitter. I dont know if I believe he couldn’t calculate what he was doing. He wanted to hurt Khalid and it backfired.

I also do think he did intensionally call Khalid ugly to hurt him and make him feel insecure. Im sure he always felt superior to Khalid looks wise. He is a colorist.

At the end of the day he ruined his brand and for what ? For nothing. He should have moved on from this situation from Khalid. Find a new circle. Im sure there is much tea in the LA gay scene.

Hugo is friends with Denzel. Denzel is smart and I am sure he is one who advised him to delete tweets.

I’m sorry but @bigboaster is correct. This news does not compare to the Taylor/Kanye mess, and it’s had almost zero impact among existing music fans. Nor has it garnered much traction from potential new fans. Why? Partly because people no longer care about a person’s sexual orientation these days - especially if you have little to no sex appeal to sell. As someone previously said, Khalid doesn’t even have a dedicated thread on this forum that celebrates his music and likeness. And the gworls on X are being mean gays as always by coming for his looks.

So fortunately (or unfortunately) for Khalid this news will be like a pebble falling into a pond. A wave it shall not make
