First of all what he said was not transphobic but objectifying/fetishizing trans people. There’s a big difference.
I would never go up to anyone regardless of who they were and tell them what and who they are regardless of my personal beliefs, opinions, and logic. But I will say this: you ask any trans person about their biology, they will say that they were born biologically one way or born in this body or something to that extent. Again, that isn’t denying them their choice of expression, just speaking to the fact of their DNA something that cannot be changed.
