Dude, check out post #462 (page 24) and you will see I am the one who literally posted the article and link to this thread and have brought it up and discussed it in other threads. I talked about how Isaac is a perfect storm of vulnerability for this happening. I’ve also thought he was gay the first time I saw him on YouTube awhile back and wondered if being thrown out of his house by his mom was related to him being gay or being caught with other guys.
We don’t really know what his home life is like and what he’s going through there and why leaving might be a better option. I brought up Kegan Keller, who was raised in a very oppressive religious sect that can’t accept gay and lesbians and has been known to have extensive abuses going on for hundreds of years. At one point last year he returned to them and renounced everything he did, but was also made to repress who he was and his sexuality again. He ended up risking being shunned permanently by his community, leaving behind all his family, friends and religion just to be able to be who he wants to be with sexually and romantically. Really heartbreaking stuff.
Isaac is in a rural Canadian province and as someone mentioned as a prominent Youtube star who knowingly hangs out with bodybuilder guys with OF and who do gay content, even if he isn’t gay he may well be perceived as much and high school might be a nightmare for him. He may have very legitimate reasons for wanting to leave high school even this close to graduation and wanting to escape his home life and town/community as well. I can tell you as a high schooler because of how bad being bullied was and not knowing if I would be accepted at home by my family I wanted to run off to New York on a bus to Port Authority where I knew young people escaped to become prostitutes as that seemed like a better option as a gay kid than being stuck in my hometown and literally trying to survive getting through high school.
What’s weird and different in this day and age is this is all happening in real time and live on multiple social media platforms for him. It is very clear that what has happened this month has empowered him and given him agency in a way that he hasn’t had in the past. He presents as this very happy, quirky guy with a dorky sense of humor, but it’s also obvious there is something sadder, darker and more painful going on underneath. Many of these young guys into bodybuilding and total athletic control of their bodies do it because they feel that it’s the only thing they have in their lives that they ultimately have control and agency over and that’s why they are so obsessed over it and constantly driven to maintain it. Again, personally I can understand that too as a teen I struggled with anorexia and bulimia as an equal and opposite situation to that. Body dysmorphia presents differently in different ways for people and different motivations, but ultimately it’s about being able to have control over something in your life when you don’t feel you have that in any other way.
