Quality content (like long form YouTube content) doesn't need these hooks. Most social media nonsense is a waste of everyone's time, and the idea that you need stupid little tricks to keep people watching so you can bring in the ad content is sad. Just make good content, and the revenue will follow.

lmao that's a fucking lie. look at someone like mr beast. most subscribed channel on youtube. his content is utter shit. just crap to keep kids watching. overly edited thumbnails. overly edited videos. he pulls every trick in the book so he's made millions off it.
the people who make good content aren't prioritized by the algorithm, so their content doesn't get promoted onto people's recommended. so they don't get the subscribers or views. youtubers who make genuinely good, creative, well developed content get paid dust

There are a great many YT channels making engaging and good content with high production values, making a lot of money from the ad rev.
unless they make kid's content, they're not making much from ad revenue because youtube punishes content that isn't child friendly, as they deem it to not be advertiser friendly. they likely make more money from side ventures like merch
