Jared Padalecki

well let's hope he keeps his shirt off a lot on walker
I'm still looking for the quote and/or screenshot of it but I heard he's gonna show more skin in the first 6 episodes of Walker than he ever did for the 15 Seasons of Supernatural. He's gonna play a straight widower though and already has a female colead. So his sex/love scenes in the future will be het only. Unless they take the story to another place

keegan is playing a gay character, and the hot dude from gray's anatomy will play his boyfriend

Really?! The Conservatives/NRA/Right-Wing/Trumper/Republicans are going to lose it. Weird. I heard they were rebooting the series but I assumed they were going for the same demographic as the original. I'm not sure how many Millenials/GenZ/LGBTQ+ people have nostalgia for Walker: Texas Ranger.

Yes, I'm sure the "I loved that show" comments are coming but seriously...with the absolute glut of content available which gays are saying "You know what we need? A Walker remake where he has a gay brother." and the original target audience is more likely to be turned off by the "wokeness".

it's thecw, they probably don't care much about the original fanbase, as the charmed reboot clearly shows. their target audience is young adults, mainly female. thus they add hot studs and gay dudes.
and since it is thecw i fully expect the gay character to have shitty storylines, hardly any good screen time and lots of the usual tropes they pull on the other shows

I didn't know t was CW. I thought it was CBS like the original. Even though CBS/Viacom owns 50% of CW I wouldn't think they would want one of their shows on that network. Stranger still. I guess if that's the case it doesn't need strong ratings. Not hen "Whose Line is It" is like their top-rated show.

I'm just mourning the fact that we could have had shirtlessness for about a decade if they had killed SPN years ago as they should have.

Any reason why they barely had the brothers shirtless?

I mean, the show's fun and all but I think a lot of us were just tuning in for the eye candy. And they clearly demonstrated that they know most of the fanbase consist of women so...

It was on the CW, after all, the same channel where they have the men in practically all their shows running amok with their shirts off. I never understood why they barely had the brothers shirtless, is all.

I feel like they thought the show was too good for all that (which it definitely was not in the later seasons lol). They obviously felt they didn't need to stoop to the level of other CW shows using hot shirtless guys for ratings, but honestly Supernatural could have really used a little more sexuality to make it interesting. For a show about two hot young guys, it was surprisingly sterile lol.

They initially used a 'scary just sexy' tag to reel in viewers from Gilmore Girls, which had an overwhelmingly female viewership (and which Jared had starred on).

The show ended up attracting a much higher male view count than expected, which is how they ended up being paired with all the supernatural and superhero shows in its lifetime.

I remember Jensen discussing that he felt shirtless scenes were superfluous and only wanted to do them if "necessary to the plot", or some actor lingo to that effect. To be fair, they did get the actors shirtless most times they hooked up with girls on the show, but due to the insular storyline, that wasn't very often in the earlier seasons.

Oh okay, I get it now lol

But also then they keep dressing up in jackets/long sleeves most of the time. Is it never summer during the timeline?

I do get to admire Jared's pecs and biceps whenever visible in the show. His body having less screentime than it should is what makes savoring after it all the more worthwhile. And more rewarding when he finally does.

Walker Start today . Lets see if its good or not.
Im still on supernatural season 10.

Hollywood Reporter's review of the first episode is... not great.

'Walker' Review

From the description, he's brought in all his friends and family to play the bit parts, and they fridge the woman again in the very first episode, just like they did in Supernatural 15 years ago and they got yelled at for it then and they apparently haven't learned their lesson. Plus as predicted the gay gets nothing to do, although I grant it is only the first episode.

Not that I would have bothered watching it anyway, I don't really have any interest in police procedurals, especially not ones set in Texas. I'll just come back to this thread to see the screen caps every now and then.

It never was. Even in the early seasons SPN was fairly basic. It just became complete garbage later on.
Never really got why they patted themselves on the back so much for coming up with a fairly generic monster-of-the-week series with a touch of "family"-melodrama. The originality...

Anyway, re Walker: the Hollywood Reporter's Everwood comparison really checks out and it was exactly what I expected the series to be. So there really ain't no point watching it barring any potential shirtlessness (which there was none of in Ep1). Gonna be interesting to see if JP can carry a show by himself cause out of the J2s I think JA was the one with the acting chops.

The Pilot was written and directed by women, but no doubt any angry audience members will put the blame for any perceived marginalization of women and minorities solely on Jared because he is the easiest target for them.
