I knew Jim back in the early 2000s and I wouldn't say he was off or weird at all; he was actually very humble and down to earth. I think he probably came off a certain way to some because he was very guarded with some guys. And that's not surprising, considering he was constantly lied to, catfished, and treated like nothing but a piece of meat.

My experience with Jim was that he had a lot of mental health issues which resulted in a lot of dishonest words and behavior and poor treatment of those he knew.
