entirely agree with the other scattered posts about old-school jocks vs today's colorful fashion jocks!!.....the origin of jockstraps was simply to support and protect a man's genitals during rough athletics or various risky activities.....they were developed, of course, because men's traditional underwear 100+ years ago didn't offer that protection.......

today, with jockstraps having become a bit of a mild fetish for some and with the internet allowing millions of images to proliferate, it was inevitable that fashion jocks with bright colors, not really intended for use in sports, would emerge......few guys wear jocks these days except in the traditional rough sports, many preferring compression shorts or just tighter boxer briefs/briefs.......

the appeal of jockstraps to me is just their classic no-frills traditionally-athletic purpose, the (usually) highly-masculine appearance of those wearing them, and the minimal coverage afforded by the narrow straps and pouch (runner/swimmer jocks even more!).......silly colorful fashion jocks distract from all these personal preferences......

I wouldn't call them "mild" fetishes by any means. I have never conquered my intense, yearning fetish for genuine, really athletic supporters of the Bike variety... and I'm 125 yrs old!
