This is slightly off-topic, but I was at a clothing-optional beach in Canada recently, and four college guys were there... and they did the towel dance ON THE NUDIST BEACH, with plenty of older naked people around them.

So you had a conversation about locker room etiquette with your brother about his sons?
Coaches would come into the locker room too see if we were putting on our jock straps.
A bigger thing the coaches watched for and made a big deal about was if we were showering or not. If you skipped the shower, there was a lot of words said and were sent back to the locker room too shower.

Yes...it's almost like an epidemic. I even see it now with the younger guys at swim clubs...which was a place where you never saw it before. I mean, how idiotic---you're usually wearing outfits that leave nothing to the imagination anyway.
No, I think that the original driver of the conversation---which was only with my brother---was actually just reminiscing about my dad (now passed on), and how he would shave and shower naked and then walk back to the bedroom that way to get dressed. No shame whatsoever. That's when my brother made mention about his sons being so overly-modest.

It was suggested to me by the games master after showering that it was time I got a jock strap. Since then when I work out I always jock up, feels secure as well as sensuous. However once I'm ready to shower or use the sauna it's sans jock, usually peeled off and equipment flowing free..
BY contrast, when I lived near a univ in the mid 80's that had a sauna scene that was straight out of porn--jack off sessions almost daily; a nearby little-used stairwell where you could get a blow job--I always wore my white classic jockstrap into the sauna. Guess who got a lot of attention.
In that era, I also had a lycra read jock with a narrow waistband, designed for under running shorts. I used to wear my shorts and that jock into the shower but (unlike many guys today who, I'm told actually shower in their clothes), I'd get them wet in the shower, then make a show of stripping off the shorts and rinsing them then stripping off the jock and doing the same and hanging it on the shower nob will I was finished. I guess that makes me a "show-er" in the shower.

We were required to start wearing jocks in PE class when I was starting Middle School. They came as part of the P.E. uniform, which we bought for a few bucks -- we all had to match colors, of course. First Blue, then yellow, red and blue again. T-shirt (with area to write our last names or nicknames in Magic Marker or whatever), shorts, jock, and a pair of white socks. They provided towels in the locker room. Somewhere, I still have all my P.E. uniforms...though I'm sure I can't fit into my pre-high school ones.
