It seems as if he used Strokes as a way to get into “straight porn” and to help facilitate his “straight guy” fetishes and then threw him away when Strokes’ drug problems got really bad and Strokes couldn’t get any work. Now, his “friend” and business partner (and possible ex boyfriend) is on the streets while John/Ace is back to his usual. There’s also little doubt that John/Ace is responsible for those clips of them together getting leaked, thus officially killing Strokes’ “conventional” straight porn career. That has a lot to do with how rampant closet cases, male homophobia and pressures of hetero-normalcy are in “straight” porn. But he so badly wanted to show the world he was messing around with a strung out Chris Strokes, knowing the likely repercussions.

A lot of “queers”, particularly ones who’ve dealt with childhood traumas, contend with stuff like mental health issues, gender/sexual fluidity, paraphiliacs, fetishes. That equates to a lot of sex workers/porn performers. John/Ace seems as if he enjoys bi threesomes and might have some attractions to females but has overall passions and affections towards guys, a desire to please guys, get affirmation from them and have a romantic/emotional connection to them. And the gender, romantic, sexual, emotional investment commitment spectrum is varied. All of that is fine, but it’s a messy terrain, especially for the insecure. John/Ace likely didn’t/doesn’t know how to handle his fluidity and contradictions, got caught up in toxic masculinity and homo shame, got caught up in trying to please “straight” and overall hetero-leaning dudes, and started using women and drugs to lure “straight” guys and to fit in with “straight” guys. He just comes off remarkably damaged, insecure and shady. While his iffy looks, terrible performances and awkward attempt at being a “masculine hood dude” don’t make the shady behaviors easier to overlook.
