Because they’re trying to launch a new gossip podcast. This is not journalism. It’s so riddled with bias and speculation that it may as well be from some teenage girl’s burn book.

I’m not denying what happened. It seems pretty clear that it’s true. But we’re talking about a person whose parents divorced when he was two, mother died when he was ten, and his father was an alcoholic who died from complications of diabetes and drinking about two months after the hazing. Consider also that the brain is not fully developed until your mid-20s and trauma, such as loss of a parent and parental addiction, literally physically changes your brain. He has spoken about being suicidal during this time in his life. Finally, he pleaded guilty and completed his sentence.

So yes, he did it, but there is context, and he already faced the consequences. If people don’t get to complete their sentences and change their behavior, what’s the point of the justice system?
