why everytime a celebrity comes out suddenly people claim they're lying? like ?????

Because we’ve reached a point where it’s chic for celebrities to vaguely imply that they’re queer. We’ve seen enough cover stories over the years of people coming out when their careers are flagging and they need a PR boost to be a little bit skeptical of celebrities.

but that’s not the case here

Really? With everything that LGBTQIA+ people have to go trough everyday, do you really think someone would claim to be part of the community only to 'look cool' or for clout ?
Honestly yeah I'm still having a very hard time wrapping my head around that belief

Once and for all, being queer doesn't mean anything. Can you explain what that means exactly? Because if I searched the definition, it says "Queer is a word that describes sexual and gender identities other than straight and cisgender", so basically it means everything and nothing, it's vague enough so anyone can think what he wants.

And "being part of the LGBT community" is the same. Everybody is part of the LGBT community nowadays. Than can means you're gay, or bi, or just gay friendly. It's really convenient.

He is sweet but I'm tired of all those people saying they are LGBTQ but showing nothing to prove it. For Christ sake, is it really that difficult to be a little bit precise when you make a statement. If you are not sure about your sexuality then say it.

(And by the way, I'm tired of the word "community". Like every LGBT people in the world was a big happy private club with a card member. I'm gay, doesn't mean I have to like every gay guys in the world. I'm not part of any community, it's not a hive mind)
queer is literally the "label" (some people call it a label , some don't) for people who dont quite understand their sexuality or gender identity yet. it's literally just saying "hey, I'm part of this community, I just don't know what exactly yet" queer people are just as valid as everyone else. also, the reason it seems that alot of people are LGBTQ+ is because of how broad sexuality and gender are. there's so many different aspects and it varies between each individual person e.g. I'm aromantic (don't feel romantic attraction or desire) but the way I feel aromantic won't be the same for anyone else.

I love when these responses start coming because you know the person in questions knows they've been proven to be in the wrong. It's not about whether Josh reads it or not, we all know he won't, but about understanding that constantly speculating on someone's sexuality and making underhanded personal comments about them when it doesn't adhere to your own specific desires is gross and wrong.
Coming from someone caring so much to type up a long rant in the first place...getting all the responses bruh why you care? Then attacks others for caring LOL

This alternate reality where you live sounds fun. How can we join it?

People literally pretend to be other races in order to bolster their careers. Look up Rachel Dolezal or Jessica Krug. Hell, half of white America vaguely, casually claims to have some "Native American" ancestry because of a family legend that spices up their lives a little bit. Do you think LGBTQIA+ identity is exempt from this somehow? Beyond that though, there is a difference between the way regular folks deal with identity, and the way that celebrities with carefully managed public personas and PR teams do. If management teams can try to force celebrities to stay in the closet for decades, do you not think they're also capable of pressuring celebrities to lean into queer identity because it will help their careers? Kevin Spacey conveniently came out of the closet right when he was being accused of sexual assault. Harry Styles never *says* he's queer, but he leans into the suggestion that he *might* be because his fans love it and it helps his image. I'm not suggesting that he's not also an ally, because of course he is; the two things can overlap. And again, my point here is not that anyone should be harassed about this, I think it's unequivocally wrong. I'm only suggesting that when some celebrity going through a PR crisis vaguely suggests that their queer, that it's okay to say "hmm, I dunno about that, but I guess we'll see!" rather than ringing the bells and rolling out the red carpet for them.

Okay but even so, you were skeptical because he wrote a song about a girl and kissed one in music video. That is a very common biphobic attack btw. I'm not saying you are biphobic but I'm just letting you know why your stance angered people.

I will say, at least you are able to give a better argument and defense for your cynicism than that other one. I strongly disagree with you and find your stance to be fairly toxic for the community but whatever. I'm really done arguing about this.
