I’m pretty sure when they cast each role, they tried to cast as authentically as possible. They are all 18 or older, but not by much, so they cast as closely to teenage as they could. Elle’s actress is a trans woman, Joe Locke is gay or queer, etc. so I’m pretty sure Kit is queerfam.

This is one of the best attempts I've seen on tv at casting teens who actually look the right age and can act...

they announced today Sweet Magnolias got renewed (season 2 came out 3 months ago) so i think its pretty soon still. It climbed this week on the global most watched shows tho.

pretty sure they can't ask actors about their sexual orientation. and if he's not made it clear on social media, the casting directors would have no way of knowing, unless he himself stated it in the audition. which he might have, since he said he originally auditioned to play charlie spring, so he might've mentioned the character spoke to him as a queer man.

young royals took quite some time to get a s2 announced, a few months at least. but pretty sure heartstopper is like one of the most popular shows on netflix atm, not to mention it's received amazing reviews, it's even got 100% on rotten tomatoes
