Was just coming to post this. Lauv is beyond talented and always got the feeling he was more open than he was trying to let on. Stoked he is being so open and living his best life

It does come off a bit tacky to “come out” around the time you’re releasing and promoting a project. Convenient “coming out’s and creating a queer adjacent image is already starting to become a tired way of promotion. I’m not saying that’s what he did, but it’s become a cliche pattern. While it’s never the smartest idea to post a video like that if you’re still in the middle of trying to understand and accept your dimensions and you haven’t really done much research on “sexuality” or queerness in general. Because that vid came off very rambling, ambiguous and almost incomprehensible. I also don’t like people using the word “gay” if they still have hetero commitment ambitions. “Gay” has social and political aspects. So do public relationships and marriage. It’s not just about your sex life and your attractions.

Still, it’s apparent that he’s at least being somewhat sincere with his struggles. And you never know what someone is dealing with as far as their dimensions, mental health, questioning, potential fluidity, trying to gain self-comfort and confidence, trying to understand their place in the gender, sexual, affection, romantic, emotion, commitment spectrum. So, I do wish him well. Let’s hope he doesn’t go down the insecure or queer exploitation route.

So his “heartfelt” come out wasn’t really authentic. He had already come out to his team and they prepared a totally artificial scenario for him to “share it with the world” (perfectly timed for their sympathy money to fall in the basket). Not surprising people are mad about that.
