Mackenyu

A while ago I read on Japanese forums that these rumors were created just to hide the fact that he was sexually abused and turn him into “the villain of the movie”
Nah, those accusations are wild, I don't buy it because they have no supporting evidence at all. If any of those is true, he will never land a successful career in Japan where cancel culture is way harsher than in western.
The only rumour that I believe was about his grooming incident because it took quite a bit attention from media and his late father even commented on it and also sued the woman (later the case was dropped because Mackenyu insisted that it was consensual interaction)
Even though it was consensual and he wanted to drop the case, would the law just get the woman off scot free? A lot of other grooming cases involving minors by adults claimed to be “consensual” on the minor side but legally they still can’t give consent and the perpetrators are persecuted.

It was? I thought it was in Japan
It was said to be in Los Angeles as he was born and raised there and his father was so mad because he wanted him to make his debut in hollywood but then he was brought to Japan because of the case but the woman was let go because he consented. But still it was like a weird story to begin with but why would the random gossip come out of anywhere if it didn’t happen.

It was in the United States as it mentioned
Still doesn't help, I'm not from US. We are talking about legal here, which can very different from country to country, for US even states have different laws. I get your disagreement about how it's done and I'm on that side too, but don't impose your opinion as "correct legal practice".

There isn’t a lot the prosecutors can do if the victim decides not to cooperate with the prosecution.
