No one should be expected to show everything, even if it is a movie or show that will have nudity. They use body doubles for that too, or are you against that practice as well? Taking White Lotus for example, in season 2, Theo James's character is supposed to be very well endowed, which Theo isn't. It's ignorant to think that the actor's penis size should be considered over their acting ability.
I agree with you in regard to the awkwardness of casting an actor in a certain role based on his penis size rather than his acting ability. That is one situation in which I more than accept the idea of using a prosthetic penis. You cite Theo James in the current series "White Lotus" as an example of this, and I can add to the list Mark Wahlberg playing a porn star in "Boogie Nights" (1997.

Where I can't accept the idea of using a fake dick is in those movies in which the size of the character's dick has no significance to the plot and the decision to have the actor wear one is seemingly rooted in little more than a perceived need to help him maintain his modesty, while at the same time pretending to show something daring and controversial. Yes, I do think that the actor should be required to show everything if that is what is being claimed, and that is what some segment of the paying audience is expecting to see. It is a matter of prurient--rather than artistic--fulfillment, pure and simple.

Oooh deceptive? Unlike the characters, which are totally real of course.
That is a disproportionate analogy. This is a matter that has nothing to with the creation of art; rather, it is simply about how that art might be marketed to potential audiences for whom the plot of the movie alone might not suffice to lure them into the cinemas. It is the sort of thing that has been happening in many different respects, of course, since in the dawn of Hollywood movie industry.

Thank you so much! He is Vincenzo Giordano and I know there are other scenes with Joele Anastasi and Raffaele Esposito in the film
hi, I can't find the title of the film... even though I search for all three actors together nothing comes up.... what's the name of the film? Thank you

I think you logic is deeply flawed.

You are saying it is ok to cast an actor whose penis is not big enough for the role because you can use a prosthetic to fix that problem but on the other hand it is not ok to cast an actor who does not want to go full frontal even though a prosthetic would save that problem too. And you justify the latter because at least a part of the viewership pays to see dick.

I would argue that, if you base you casting decision under this asumption, it would be even more important to cast actors who can deliver in the scene where the size of the dick matters. Because the people who pay for a movie/serie to see dick are more interested to see the real thing when it matters and less so from a side character when it doesn't matter. Also - showing dick especially on pay TV has not been daring and controversial for at least 20 years since series like Rome, Six Feet under or Game of Thrones.

I would also assume that very few people pay for mainstream TV to see dick...
