If you are trying to JOIN using an iPod or Android device, the join button may not show up.

SOLUTION: Use the YOUTUBE APP to join instead. That worked for me. The Join button shows up immediately.

I tried to find the JOIN membership button on both my ipod and Andriod device but no luck. It seems the browsers on those devices (Chrome, Safari, etc) won't show the Join button. Or maybe it's just very well hidden
