It’s hard to feel sympathetic when Ethan Hethcote has not had to work in the conventional sense, unlike most other people, since he was at University. He’s been sponsored, comped, flown overseas, etc etc. Mark never made any bones about what he wanted to do, and that was make videos which turned into a good money maker, so he didn’t have to take a job either. If you look back at their videos, Ethan was a very willing participant, and appeared to enjoy the freebies and the experience.

Yeah if you actually watch the vid he’s not asking for pity or sympathy. He’s explaining why this evolution felt right for him. And why the subscriber model of OF gives him more freedom and control vs the advertising + algorithm model of YouTube.

Among other things this video makes clear that commodifying your relationship is a terrible terrible idea. It’s poison.

But who said you need to have sympathy lol ? Ethan is not complaining about being on OF nor is he naive. He is actually very aware of what his doing, He made money and bought land. We all pay a price too in participating in capitalism through our 9 to 5 jobs. Ethan made his bed and is fine. I don’t see where this sympathy talk is coming from. For fucks sake! We are in the digital which has opened up so many employment and entrepreneurial opportunities beyond the conventional 9-5 career. So what if he's a influencer. The money is legal and they are just helping brands get recognition through their audience. There is nothing wrong with it. Get over yourself and join the rest of us in the future.

I think they really should’ve separated around year 3. This would’ve given them enough time to rebrand their channels and expand their horizons. The relationship lasted more than it should have. Also the break up and getting back together never works out.

Actually seeing a couple’s therapist to help end and detangle your relationship breakup can be very helpful too. I speak from experience.

They've always looked alike. Marks face is just fuller now than it used to be. You can see cheekbones when he was slimmer. But with the identical 5 o'clock shadow and fullness in the face, you can see his resemblance.
