Conversation was always kept to a minimum but in Ireland things were much more laid back and comfortable when taking a piss. Was in Beijing, China, many years ago and at the airport, about to return home, my travel companion and myself both went to the men's room before boarding the flight.
It was a long urinal all along one wall with room for 10 - 15 men. I'll be honest and say that I don't often use public restrooms but from memory I think there are all kinds of urinals. I can not remember having seen dividers but they probably do exist in some places.

How do the guys here feel about meat gazing at the urinals? I always have to take a quick look if I see someone who is very well endowed but only a quick look. I would never say anything other than the grunt hello greeting to another man when taking a piss unless he engaged me in conversation as we pissed and I always try to follow the personal space rules we have here in the U.S. I found on a recent visit to Ireland that men there have no problem looking at other mens endowment as they piss. There is no separation and guys will push in next to you to take a piss. All seem to be ok with having a look at the mans cock next to him. The bigger men seem to like to showoff to the men near them and appear to be ok with you having a look. It took me a few days to get use to the easy conversation men have when taking a leak in the pubs and the glances I received as I pissed there. The rule seemed different than the ones I know in the US.

Have visited China twice, and agree there's a different etiquette with urinal choice. In Australia, you NEVER stand next to someone at a urinal unless it's absolutely essential. You always go as far away in possible. In China, I had people stand right next to me.

In the airport restroom in question, there really wasn't much choice as it was quite busy with people wanting to go before entering their flights or having recently landed.

I have done a lot of travel and urinals around the world are very interesting.
The USA very rarely has urinals without dividers.
The big trough at Dublin Railway Station was probably the best meat fest I have ever seen.
Plus in some countries guys undo their belt and trousers clip also when using them
England, Germany, Czech Republic and Australia have a large number of urinals without dividers.
