Like it's said before, he plays Clark's son who's named after his father, just like in the comics. Unlike the comics, this version has a twin brother named Jordan and doesn't have powers.

I gave up hoping for a queer storyline for Jonathan in this show. Not a good look that the show took two queer characters from the comics and straightwashed them but heh

Jordan is actually named after Jor-El, Clarks cryptonian father. So he named his sons after his two dads, which I find super wholesome.
