He had Kissed and/or had sex with a few different women over the course of the show. It wasn't until his relationship with Winston that he realized he could love a man. In the final episode he thanks Winston for bringing out a side of himself he didn't know existed.
Interestingly though, by the end of the show its made clear he still hasn't actually had Sex with a man. So perhaps calling him "Bi" is over-simplifying it. He could just as easily identify as Pansexual.
I guess pansexual is probably what Alex is.

Felt like they kidna rushed the whole relationship though since Alex wasn't even out yet yet suddenly they were dating and the whole school knew and voted for them in the prom thing. Wish they started progessing into the relationship in season 3 or even season 2 already.
Nontheless they make a really good couple! Also can we talk about Zach being SUCH a good friend for Alex? Not just how he handled the kiss but in general. What a loyal nice guy. They would've made a hot couple too, but I am glad they kept him straight.. The whole show already is unrealistic as it is with everything happening. Yet another person turning gay would've been too much haha.
