He definitely benefited from the controversy but can I remind people they didn't really "hook up" in any meaningful way. By James' own description Gage pretended to be into him, got a free plane ride and Coachella tickets out of it, and then basically had to be manipulated into even kissing him. (As I recall he only kissed James after he started crying). Another reason I think the sugar daddy convo is so silly. All the time / money James spent on him and he could barely bring himself to kiss him, but people think he's sucking and fucking to get on a boat?

Comparing James Charles to sugar daddies is pretty silly. He lucked into his success, whereas generally speaking the sugar daddies worked for it, and are far more cutthroat as a result, and infinitely more powerful and (actually) influential. There's also the fact they have decades more experience in exploiting people, and never have to worry about social media blow back, because barely anyone knows who they are.
The real way to tell if someone's given in to their demands is to simply see if they're invited back. There's a practically inexhaustible supply of hot guys willing to do whatever they want, they don't need to play the long game with any of them.
You all seem to think that men who are accused of sketchy (or even outright predatory) behavior are targeting every single younger guy they're associated with. It's quite literally the opposite. Men like that need for it to be the case that there are a bunch of people who can say things like "I know x personally and they never said or did anything untoward with me" if someone accuses them of impropriety. Sometimes just being around younger, attractive people is enough.
(This is an extreme example but) Bryan Singer didn't assault every young actor / model who he maintained a relationship with or whose career he tried to help. And notice the men and boys he did target were often people we never heard of or knew to be hanging out with him in the first place.
The point isn't that James is exactly like those men. The point is that Gage couldn't even fake it long enough with a guy to kiss him willingly, let alone fuck him. You all's idea of how this stuff happens is like bad erotic fan fiction.
Hahaha, oh sure, because if there's one thing these guys care about, it's honesty. They definitely wouldn't get people to lie for them, nope, that never happens.
Once again, you cannot compare Charles to people who are used to exploiting people.
