My Adult Circumcision Journey

Last week I got circumcised.
I visited the doctor last year about my tight foreskin. He thought it was thrush and give me thrush cream. It did not work so I visited a different doctor as they previous did not examine my penis. He just looked at it.
The new doctor tried to pull back my foreskin and said it was Phimosis. I got a steroid cream and it didn't work either. I returned to the doctor who referred me to a urologist.
Due to the long wait times and the back log with the NHS due to Covid. I decided to go private and luckily my insurance is covering it.
I seen the urologist in April this year and he said I needed circumcised.
I got circumcised last week and thought I'd share my story and answer any questions you may have if you are in the same boat.
I'll pop on tomorrow and let you know how it went and what this passed week have been like.

I find strange that you spend childhood and teen age without pointing the issue on a doctor. As any skin foreskin it’s supposed to streach with time an effort, I guess the prescripted cream propose was to ease it.
How it’s going with the recovery of the surgery?

I got circumcised last week. I had to be at the hospital for 10.30am. I had to fast from midnight the night before which was fine. All I had to do was skip breakfast.
The nurse took me to my room and completed some forms and then I signed.
I got settled and the urologist came to exam. Just attempted to pull back the foreskin again and examined the condition of the skin.
He said we can do this under Local Anesthetic which I was happy about. I didn't want to be put to sleep anyway cause I didn't want to feel shite afterwards.
I was taken to the theatre about 11.45am.
They started cleaning the area followed by adding the iodine. Both times I was just worried about getting an erection, my penis was being flopped about in all directions ensuring they got all areas. But I didn't get 1 so I was fine lol.
Next came the numbing. They mentioned they were going to put in the block. I didn't really know what they meant so I asked. It's a nerve block. I thought they were injecting it into the penis but they didn't. It actually went into the area above the base of the penis, the pubic area. Not going to lie, this did hurt and I think there was moving the needle about inside the skin rather than a simple in and out typical injection. It did hurt but it was bearable.
This was the last thing I felt. I'm not sure if they injected the penis to numb it more.

The whole thing lasted about 45mins. And I went straight to my room again where I was given tea and toast.
The nurse said to drink plenty of water as they need to make sure I can pee before they can let me out. I chilled in the room for about 2 hours and I was able to go to the toilet to pee so everything was fine.

I left about 30mins after this when I got a prescription of painkillers from the pharmacist.
I was given 3 days of Codeine and a box of paracetamol.
The doctor did say to take a codeine and a paracetamol before the anesthetic wears off and that will wear off in about 8 hours.

I was able to walk out of the hospital just fine. you wouldn't even think I had anything done.

Its been a week now since I had it done.
Not one bit of pain from it and I've never needed the pain killers. I get the odd twinge now and again but it passes quickly.
I wear boxer briefs and they are not causing any sensitivity. I did try going commando but it was so sensitive so I put on my boxers again.
I still wear a dressing. Not sure how long for but they give me 25 gauzes so that should cover about 2 weeks and that is when the stitches are expected for fall out.
It's still swollen but the swellon has gone down a good bit.
I wasn't allowed to shower for 2 days. I have to shower daily to keep it clean and not allowed to use soaps or shower gels as it can irritate the wound. When washing, just let the water flow down, no rubbing at it or anything. I have been lifting my penis up and slightly twisting it so the water gets to the underneath.

Even though there is no pain, I'm still taking it easy as I don't want to affect the stitches.

The only discomfort I am having is when I get an erection. During the day is not to bad as I can easily readjust and distract myself to help get rid of it. At night is the worst, I know the moment I get hard as it wakes me and can happen s few times during the night.

I last had a wank the morning of, before going into the hospital. So at this stage a stiff breeze gets me hard and is harder to distract myself to get rid of it. So this next week or 2 will be interesting and challenging

Interesting, thanks for sharing. Let us know how you go. I was surprised to hear it could be done under local anaesthetic.

Would be interesting to hear how sex and masturbation feel afterwards, compared to how it felt before – but I suppose you won't be doing that for a while, until you've healed properly.

Good to hear there isn't much pain – best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Same here, can't wait to take it out for a test drive.
Now that I'm cut, apparently it will take longer to climax. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, right?

Thank you for sharing your experience. I have read many negative comments about circumcision and I'm still not convinced that I would have it done. At least not in Slovakia, I have had 3 unsuccessful surgeries (on my foot), probably would've kept going there yearly if I hadn't gone to a private clinic in Czechia to have it done properly. The pattern that I see here is to do a really good vibe check on the doctor and/or the surgeon, communicate and make sure to feel comfortable before proceeding with any care.

With that said, having tight foreskin has contributed to the state of my sex life, I'm still a virgin. I have always feared what would the other person think and say when they see my (also very average) dick that is different. My biggest concern is that anal sex would hurt (because of penetration forcing the foreskin) and I wouldn't know how to get out of that situation (I feel so stupid writing this). I figure that I might not be the only one, so if you feel comfortable talking about it here, what led you to getting the surgery? Have you experienced any pain during sex?

Sex for me was fine. A condom and lube caused no issues at all. It was more the hygiene side for me. Cleaning under the foreskin was difficult and making sure it was done right.

Thank you for replying, appreciate it :) Maybe I should just stop worrying and try it then ;) But I guess it can be different for everyone, so I'll still proceed with caution... How tight was yours? Were you able to pull it down when soft? (I can) If yes, were you able to get hard with the foreskin pulled down? (I cannot, I tried but stopped when I saw it starting to choke the glans)

I had some success with stretching in my younger years but I kept forgetting to do it so that's why I decided to continue recently, just doing it while hard because I'm obviously not stretching anything when I'm soft. I guess that it's happenning to me because I'm a grower, I can pull down to a degree while I'm hard, but I can still see the outline of my glans and that I can't get over it because it widens towards its bottom.

I can tell you, the first one after the op takes no time at all! And is explosive. After that, it depends. It can take longer, as you can last longer, but I can still have a quick one in under 2 minutes when in the mood. ;)

Most of the private clinics here (UK) do it under a local - mine was, and this one, as it was private. The NHS seems to insist on using a general, and no-one seems to know why. Completely unnecessary.

I could totally see why. The surgery on my foot was done in a local anesthesia and the nurse had to distract me in order for me to not feel the pain - I wasn't even looking at the procedure. I was thinking that I wasn't even thinking about what the surgeon is doing but I definitely was subconsciously. As soon as I started talking to the nurse, the pain was gone.

It is tough for me to even talk about my penis (although I'd like to think that I'm getting better). I can't imagine what would be going through my head while lying on the table. Plus the surgeons also probably don't want to deal with a patient during the procedure, like when something goes wrong. I think that the decision makes sense as most men are reluctant to even look for medical care and then the fact that it's something that affects sex which is still a taboo topic in general society. But it would definitely be better to give you options, we're all wired up differently.

And one more thought: private clinics are probably not doing general anesthesia at all or only when completely necessary due to personnel cost (the anesthesiologists) and extra machinery involved.

Today is by far the hottest day of the year. I have been showering everyday with just water and no shower gel.
I don't fell clean at all and I smell BO.
Shower gel definitely makes a big difference. I can't wait to get a good proper shower

Men talking about issues is certainly a taboo. Definitely one we need to get rid of.
A site like this is good because you can hide behind a profile and say what ever you want.

This is why I'm sharing my story. So men know that this is perfectly normal, they aren't the only one and there is help out there.

Almost 2 weeks now since I got circumcised.
The swelling has gone down a good bit but not completely and I see stitches are falling out too. Its starting to look good again.
Today, I've stopped wearing the dressing and underwear. After a shower and I wrap myself in a towel, I felt the sensitivity on the head of the penis. The dressing and the underwear was creating a cushion support and felt nothing at all. So I decide to start going commando to help get the penis used to the touch.
With the extreme heat here too, I think it will be best to have my bits be more free as hot moist areas is a breeding ground for bacteria so I want to prevent infections. The dressing should protect the area but it does fall off.
I'm wearing loose shorts today that are smooth and silky material and probably will wear them for the next few days until the good weather goes.
Today I am walking a bit funny because of the penis sensitivity rubbing against the shorts.

Between this hot weather and the fact I haven't cum in almost 2 weeks, I'm a walking, talking erection. It's this that I find the hardest out of the whole circumcision. Not being able to have a wank and now I have almost a 2 week load.
It's going to be quite the messy wet dream when it happens

Oh I love this thread and I may add my experience too. I got circumcised on September last year after some months I contacted my doctor and planned it. I've always knew I had phimosis, but I was too scared to take care of it and also none ever explain me anything about sex and sexual life so I thought it was kinda no big deal. But it can be, especially for hygiene. So I had my surgery under local anesthesia and it went good. What was hard afterwards: changing all the bandages, waking up at 6:30 thanks to painful morning woods and going to tge bathroom half asleep to see bloody bandages and all. A lot of patience is what it takes. Actually it recovered pretty quickly and after few weeks it was almost normal. Extremely sensitive though, I had hard time cleaning the head for how sensitive it has become. But I am hapoy to had my surgery and everyone seems to appreciate it so yeah ahah

3 week now since the circumcision. There is still swelling but not as bad as it was. If I was to be honest, I would like it to stay this swollen as it looks good. If it wasnt for the scare and stitches, it would be perfect.

A few stitches have fallen out now. I wasn't sure if they actually dissolved or fell out but I have found the odd wee thread in my boxers.
If they fall out, why are they called dissolvable?

I tried going without boxers to help the penis reduce the sensitivity. This caused me to walk funny. Because of the heatwave here in Northern Ireland, I was outdoors more, going for walks and drives so I decided to start wearing boxers again.

Erections have got better and no discomfort now. its no longer waking me at night so that's good

With this extreme heat, it really does get the horn going. You guys know what it's like. At a point, I was erect 24/7 because I hadn't cum in a couple of weeks aswell.
There is a masturbation technique that I used before so I thought I'll try it.
It is simply holding a vibrator to the penis and lay back and enjoy. No stroking or anything.
Normally I would tie it to the penis and stick on porn and it's a hands free technique. You should try it if you haven't already.
This worked brilliantly and I didn't last long at all as you would expect.

There is 2 thing I had to get used too. The new pee and cum flow.
For the first couple days, I sat down to pee, I didn't really want to be handling the penis just after the circumcision, while it was still raw. But when I first stood up to pee, the force was unreal and I over shot the toilet, I had to train myself again on how to target again. But I have got better.
With cumming, before it basicly flowed out. Now it shoots quiet the distance. The first time, i really wasn't prepared and it was such a mess. The biggest mess I made just by myself. It was also over 2 weeks worth.
