My Adult Circumcision Journey

Afternoon everyone, I've been on LPSG for some time.

I am 31, Scottish and uncut. I like the look of a circumcised penis and have been keeping my foreskin retracted on and off for the last 4/5 years. I have been thinking a lot more lately about taking it further and getting circumcised for aesthetic reasons.

I naturally have fears about getting circumcised and it's not how I want it to look and I can't change it. I want it to be low and loose. I won't get it done on the NHS as they only pay for it in medical circumstances. Whilst looking at private hospitals near to myself the price varies from £1500-£2500. A lot of money to spend and potentially not be happy with the look of it.

I currently have a small cut on the tip of my penis near to the meatus and the doctor has said that they are happy to put a few stitches in to see if it heals but he has said that it's not healing as it's not getting time to heal due to my urethra constantly expanding when urinating and he told myself that the stitches might not take as the inside of the cut now has the same skin as my glans. It's not giving me any issues and it's not getting any bigger. I'm worried that I take the leap to get circumcised and as a result it widens the cut and causes me problems.

I appreciate any comments that tell myself if I clearly want it to get it but I'm wanting to know how to go about it, expectations vs reality, costs, realistic recovery, etc.

Any information is appreciated. I'm on here almost every day or at least once a week so I will reply at some point.

I can't really help with going the private route, mine was NHS, I guess it's a different decision you need to make?

From the point of view of the operation, pain, recovery.

The op is nothing to fear, mine was done under general so I was unconcious. I spent a day-ish getting over the anaesthesia groggyness.

My op was four and a half weeks ago, I got an infection in the first week and had to be on antibiotics for two weeks so my recovery will have been slower than most but...

Stitches are mostly dissolved although some are still visible. There is still a tiny bit of bleeding, not much, and there is still a small amount of swelling.

I was never what I would call in pain, more discomfort. I stopped taking painkillers about 12 hours after leaving hospital and haven't had them since.

So even with an infection I would say recovery is easy.

One tip. With the infection I kept dressings on for longer than I might have done otherwise, basically to stop the wound sticking to my underwear. I used vaseline on my bellend/the wound and covered it with size 34 tubular gauze which gave a neat dressing.

Aesthetically. I was cut low and loose (I think) and there is still a small amount of skin covering.my glans. I'm not sure if that will go when the swelling subsides, I would prefer it if it did because it's kind of like it's neither cut, nor uncut. We'll see. I expect if you go private you might get a choice of what style of cut you get.

My advice would be go and speak to a consultant. If you are already unhappy aesthetically with your penis then you don't really have anything to lose. The worst case scenario is you aren't happy with your new penis but that's where you are now.

Not sure if that's helpful or not?

I'm getting circumcised in just over a week purely out of choice. I've always like the idea and decided to go ahead with it. I looked into it extensively however for styles and methods etc. I read a lot on reddit and there is a sub on there that guys post up their results and experiences. This ultimately helped me choose the clinic after seeing consistent results from others that had been there.

Hey,

Thanks for getting back to myself. I have been thinking about it for the last 5 years. My problem is that I tend to do research on the topic then never go through with it, a few years ago I actually booked an appointment with a consultant but ended up cancelling as I'd talked myself out of it. I think I have commitment issues in getting circumcised.

I would be interested in following your circumcision story should you wish to keep a diary of it.

I am off work on holiday for the next few weeks and going to try and chase up the urologist to see where they are in wanting to stitch my meatus cut. I'm also going to ask them about the NHS doing it, doubt they will but worth a try.

No problem, I will keep a diary of it with pictures as others doing the same helped me.
I was kind of the same thinking about it for so long, however the clinic I have chosen allows you to book online with a deposit and the consultation is done right before the op, that helped me decide as it was convenient and having paid a deposit I can't cancel without loss, so it's going ahead!

Hi Scotsguy27. I was like you for years, I even cancelled a circumcision two days out. Finally I went ahead and haven’t regretted a thing. Someone on here said if you really want it done and have done for years, it is very unlikely you will regret it. I had it done at Luton which is only a couple of miles from the airport so you could get there and back in the same day. I don’t know what they charge now buy 8 years ago it was £500. I also went for the skin glue option for an extra £50 which halves healing time and gives a neater result. PM me if you would like to discuss more. All the best.

Hi, from the UK here and I've been considering circumcision on and off for a while now because of persistent issues with my foreskin. Always been an irritant but never quite enough to do something about it but think I might now take the plunge.
Not so much worried about the money but quite hesitant about regretting it. Interested in having an honest, private chat with guys who have gone through this as an adult or teenager. You do hear different things about whether it enhances/suppresses sensitivity after, and about the level of irritation afterwards.

Added you on snap

It's been like 6 months or so since I had my circumcision.
Still some swelling on the frenulum.
I've been back to do everything sexually.
My surgeon said that the foreskin is full of nerves. So without it, it will take long to climax.
This is somewhat true. And not a bad thing at all.
Although I don't seem to take long to climax, that is the same in my opinion but what I have noticed is that it's easier to distract myself from cumming so I can last longer.

Really? That’s good to hear. I always thought it’d be the opposite. The glans having more nerve endings and it being exposed would be more sensible and thus easier to cum.

Nope, it's in the foreskin. There is nerve endings in the frenulum too

Well done on seeking out advice (even if I am unsure if this is deemed the best place or it might just be the best option in fact lol)

Talk to a registered GP and ask about the pros and cons.
Visit the NHS app etc.

Be aware the sensitivity will reduce, procedures can leave scarring and complications and unless it is needed for medical reasons do you really need it?

On the plus side it reduces the risk of sti's, it is easier to clean and some partners might find cut more appealing.

Best of luck to you fella.
