It’s the sexual tension for me I loved both of these guys in the show
I loved Ma Sunho on the show, he has so much personality. And he's very sexy. He wore the shortest shorts possible, and I thank him for it

I'm hoping for a 2nd season with more sexy guys, but with the show's controversies that have been going around, I'm afraid we won't ever see it
Of course we will. The show is a huge hit, and the majority of the contestants still stand behind it and are promoting it. They’ll just adjust the issues for season 2.

I hope to see a selection of ‘all stars’ from S1 to return.

yeah what controversies are there?
There are some. If we go to Reddit, they explain things better there.

The biggest one relates to the show's credibility. So, Jung Hae Min (the cyclist & runner up) was the actual winner of the show. But the production team forced the finalists do the match 3 times, because of technical issues (if I'm not mistaken, something wrong with the audio recording). Basically he already won the first 2, but the show said "nah", until the match fell to Woo Jin Yong's favor. News came around, especially Hae Min's social media distances himself with the show, and other contestants like the car dealer guy and Yun Sung Bin's coach also said it. The production team eventually denied that the competition is rigged, but recently Hae Min decided to do an interview to confirm everything. Not sure if it's against NDA, but according to his words, he doesn't exactly want any compensation, just wants to tell the truth. Overall, they didn't necessarily seem to intend on making Jin Yong the winner from the start, but it's more about being very unprofessional.

The other controversies are more about contestants' past. I don't think they should affect the program's future, but we're talking about South Korea, everyone's reputation is somehow involved in the brand image. So Kim Da Yong (the stuntwoman) was involved in bullying and assault when she was younger. The victims decided to speak up and Da Yong actually admitted (half of) it. And then Jang Seong Min (one of the rugby players in the show), assaulted his girlfriend with a weapon (that's all I know).

is it due to the injuries that the contestants suffered during the challenges?
Aside from the things above I mentioned, I'm not sure, but I believe there were some contestants who claimed that the provided safety measures on set were minimal (which I guess led to injuries you're saying), the whole filming process (not the games themselves) was inhumanely exhausting (they barely had breaks) and some contestants didn't even get screentime AT ALL (I believe there was one ballerino who complained).

If they were not given breaks that would be insane. I watched one of the contestants' vlog and he said that the challenge 2.5, - where eliminated teams from the bridge challenge would have to lift 40% of their weight - said that they (allegedly( didn't get that much time off, and they had to go into that challenge right after challenge 2.

Imagine being exhausted from the previous challenge and then lift 40% of your weight? LOL. The people who run that show are insane and yes inhumane. I feel bad for the others who didn't get enough screen time. I mean even the eventual winner didn't get enough build up lol.

Ah that seems pretty bad. Though I'm not sure about the challenge part though. It is of course big exhaustion, but I mean, the whole show is about it. It's risky as any sport competition and is about going beyond the limit. Lifting after the previous challenge doesn't seem pleasant but they knew what they signed up for? And I'm not saying it to defend the producers or anything, it's just that, there were much more savage things in the show in my opinion (like for example holding a boulder for 2 hours and saying how red their neck and shoulder area looked like).

I was kinda sad that we didn't get enough of Eud dum actually! Not sure if spelled the name correctly but it was a fragile girl with pink hair who won the challenge 2.5 as well. The winner as well, like you say, not much of a build up. I also noticed him like I said, only after mythological challenges.

On a side note: Who's the guy in your avatar? Looks very hot
