I understand why people get offended by him. His statements about gay men and constantly asserting his heterosexuality plays on a lot of the rejection gay men experience. He displays disgust regularly regarding sex with men.

He continuously states how much he doesn’t enjoy it with contradicts the physical pleasure he is seen experiencing sometimes. That constant contradiction is reminiscent of the internalized homophobia gay men experience and the men that lie about their homosexuality.

He wants gay men to support him financially while telling gay men how much he’s disgusted by them. It’s illogical to expect gay men to be ecstatic about supporting his “product.” The energy you project as an individual will often be mirrored by the public.

What I hope is that he can reconcile the discrepancies and recognize how his actions fed the negativity he dislikes. Given what he’s offered about his story, I get why he hasn’t thus far. It would be awesome if he could recognize the trends in his history so that he can discover his own agency and boundaries.

The experiences of being exploited seem to be at the root of his disgust with homosexual activities, as well as the dogmatic messaging in childhood. He may find that he may be bisexual or homosexual if he can uncouple that messaging from the disgust.

The parentalization and codependency in his family of origin has made him naive and easy to manipulate. His fixation on searching for masculinity and his development of a toxically hyper masculine ideal has done him no favors either.

Ultimately, I get it. There’s an extent to the compassion one can receive though, when spewing internalized homophobia onto the collective of gay men.
